Nginx return 301跳转问题

Lnmp 1.4 Nginx 1.11.8
我一个站 www.xxx.com xxx.com 这两个登记在nginx conf里面
我只要使用者使用 xxx.com 而不是 www.xxx.com

我写 return 301 https://xxx.com 这样，运行是php文件
为啥会出现 chrome error : redirect too many times, pls clear cookies and try again

我在同一个xxx.com.conf文件的ssl 里面 server_name: xxx.com
有什么办法解决吗
